Getting Involved

cwslogo300.jpg

Our organization grew out of a need to connect Caregivers to services as well as to connect Seniors to the many events around town.  The struggle to balance the growing demands of caring for an 84 year-old mother, a fulltime job with an hour commute, and a new marriage shifted the topic of conversation for our board members as they began trying to support our current president who was facing the decision to leave her current job to care for her mom.
("Life happens quickly sometimes and we learn to cope, until one day when suddenly we feel overwhelmed and are forced to reach out for help. That's exactly how our organization was formed -- a few friends began looking for ways to support me. They began looking throughout the community for resources to ease my stress after my mother had a fall. As they spoke to other caregivers the options became so numerous that it seemed like a fulltime job to sort them out. As a result the concept of Connecting with Seniors was born.")

Our staff now sponsors events and teaching seminars that help friends and family members learn ways to volunteer and support other Caregivers and Seniors.

Involvement is a personal choice, the following are some ways to get involved:

Caregiver Support Groups

Support groups provide Caregivers an opportunity to share their stories. Others may be comforted and informed of local resources and learn about community activities suitable for active-minded seniors. A network of the various civic and religious groups activities are discussed and calendars are made available.

Become a Volunteer

Our organization also provides an opportunity for creative, caring and compassionate individuals to connect with Caregivers. If you are interested in connecting with a caregiver and want to volunteer to help seniors in your local community visit the "Contact Us" page for additional information.

Make a Donation

When schedules do not allow you ample time to help out personally, your donations will help to sponsor an activity for a Senior.  The convenient Paypal donation button allows you to make a donation via any major credit card or directly from your PayPal account.  Don't have a PayPal account?  Sign-up is easy, secure and FREE!  And don't forget -- all charitable contributions are tax deductible!

Seniors Activities

Men and Women ages 60 and older are eligible for membership.  Membership has many benefits, including unlimited access to services (additional fees may apply to some activities and programs).  A detailed confidential member profile with all personal caregiver contact information and senior medical information will be kept via "File Of Life" in case of an emergency. Attendance at the various programs will be monitored so that caregivers know the where-abouts of their loved ones.

Sponsor an Event

Fun or informational activities are a great way to get Seniors involved and provide respite to Caregivers.  Our staff will coordinate and market special events for individuals, groups, or businesses in the community  to share their services with Caregivers and Seniors.  Classes, group presentations, intergenerational experiences as well as field trips are among the many possibilties.

For more details and a calendar of events, see our "Recent and Upcoming Events" page.
